Afternoon Walk in Respryn

After a dull start it brightened up a bit this afternoon, so we decided to go for a walk at Respryn Bridge, part of the National Trust, near Lanhydrock House in Cornwall.

Christopher (eldest son) drove us in his little car that he is learning to drive in for the practice.

As you will see from the photos below, the bluebells and leafy green trees were amazing.

Pooh sticks on the bridge was great fun for Kieran...and Christopher!!

Where is your favourite walk?

Tim's 40th Birthday!

Tim has now entered the same century as me!

I was sooo excited to get Tim what he wanted for his birthday, with the help of his parents and sister :) It was the new handheld Nintendo 3DS!!!

The chap in Game gave me a little demo and I was totally amazed at how brilliant the 3D is - and without the clumbersome glasses!

However, Amazon has really good deals, so I ordered online.

With the 3DS, I got Rayman 3D and an accessory kit to help get him started.

Tim's brother, Andrew, gave him the Streetfighter IV 3D game which Tim really wanted as it is one of the best 3D games out that takes advantage of all the 3D features.

Tim also bought himself the Pilotwings Resort 3DS game.

Coming out soon are a couple exciting games, such as:

Can't wait to have a proper turn on the DS.........please Tim?

Spring Holiday in Cornwall

This year we decided to stay in Cornwall and travelled to The Lizard, the most southerly point of England!

We booked a chalet for a week at a holiday park overlooking the sea near Kennack Sands.

Day One
We woke to a sunny day and decided to explore our surroundings. We found a footpath signposted 'BEACH' and followed the winding path through the wooded valley to the beach at Kennack Sands.

What a lovely sandy beach!

We had our lunch on the beach, bought from the local cafe/shop, and then a riding school arrived on the beach in front of us and galloped towards the sea

Maddie & Kieran enjoyed building castles in the sand!

We made our way back to the holiday park and decided to go for a drive.

Ending up in Mullion Cove, we parked at the top of the hill, opposite the Mullion Cove Hotel.

Wow! What an amaaaazzzing view!

DAY 2

Flambards!

Maddie's main request and so armed with our Tesco clubcard vouchers, that's where we went...

What a great day! And yes I did go on some of the less scary rides!

Day 3

We decided to take a boat trip across the Helford River to Glendurgan Gardens.

Another beautiful sunny day!

We drove to Helford Village and parked - a very pretty quiet village - and walked the footpath to the ferry crossing. Only to find out that the ferry was cancelled until later in the day due to very low tide!!

So - I had to drive the long way round to Glendurgan :(

It seemed to take forever to get there on the narrow, winding roads - but worth the drive. Glendurgan Gardens is in a sheltered valley and was lovely and warm.

We found the maze and had great fun finding the middle - although Tim gave up!!

Day 4

We took Maddie to her Dad's in the morning as she was going to Surrey for her grandparents 50th wedding anniversary party.

On the way back, we stopped off in Hayle, at Gwithian and parked close to the lighthouse.

The weather was amazingly sunny and warm, so we sat on the cliff and looked down at the beach and had our picnic lunch.

Then down to the beach.....
Not prepared with swimming gear, so had to strip Kieran to his underpants, bless him!

Day 5

Minack Theatre today!

On the way we investigated Praa Sands....

and then down to the beach...

and on the way back to the chalet we stopped at KFC in Penzance and also took a few pics of St Michaels Mount...

Day 6

Kynance Cove

and finally The Lizard point itself,,,

Lovely holiday, fantastic weather!

Hope you enjoyed this blog......
